Uncle Ned
Here is some information about Edward Cavanagh's unit from WWI - the 78th Division. Took training at Camp
Dix, then sailed to France in June, 1918. The "Lightning Division" served in
the Meuse-Argonne. As a division, the 78th spent 21 days in active sectors and
17 days in quiet sectors. It captured 432 prisoners and advanced 21 kilometers
against the enemy while sustaining 1,384 battle deaths and 5,861 wounded.
